Rainy Day Resources

Today I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite faith-based resources. Some I’ve known for a while, others I’ve come across recently, all of them have blessed me tremendously. They are in no particular order.

  • Rethinking Church | Francis Chan

First off, I LOVE FRANCIS CHAN and would recommend any of his messages (he also has some great books). I came across this short video on July 31, 2017. I know that because I journaled about it.. it was that awesome.

  • Fix Your Focus | Steven Furtick

This message by Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church was AWESOME. It focuses on relationships, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be a romantic one. I listened to it yesterday morning and was in awe by all of the wisdom I was being exposed to, haha. I would definitely recommend it. Thanks for sharing it with me Ivanna!

  • The Last Arrow: What did you Expect? | Erwin McManus

You know when you’re kind of just letting life pass you by and then you hear a message that slaps you back into reality and convicts you to start living intentionally again? Yeah, this message by Pastor Erwin of Mosaic did that for me. I watched this one a few days ago, and I’m even thinking of getting the book! This one was shared with me by my fashionista friend David.

  • Engaging Hope in Seasons of Disappointment | Melissa Helser

If you have or are going through a season of hopelessness or disappointment.. WATCH THIS NOW.. LIKE IMMEDIATELY.

Other people/churches I appreciate that were not listed: Louie GiglioRich Wilkerson, most people from Bethel, City Life, and Hoboken Grace.

I came across the ReadScripture app while listening to a Francis Chan preaching and immediately shared it with most of my friends. The app itself has the entire bible, but it gives you the option of a reading plan which encourages you to read about two bible passages and a Psalm each day. Before you begin reading, there is usually an animated video that will illustrate/give you some context on what you are about to read. I found The Bible Project website through the app and it has also been really helpful in digging deeper and studying God’s Word. Both are free.

This resource is both an app and a website. They have daily reading plans as well as old ones that you can follow at your own pace. The app contains the entire bible as well as access to a bunch of cute wallpapers with bible verses. Although She Reads Truth is designed for women, they do have a He Reads Truth for you dudes out there. I encourage you to sign up for their emails and give them a try if you’re looking for something to supplement your daily readings.. it feels almost like a book club. Although this is free they do have a shop where you can buy prints and some of the reading plans if you wish to.

I love reading articles because they don’t take much time to read and they’re usually really informative. Desiring God has so many different topics written by a couple of different people that you’re guaranteed to find something that sparks your interest.

I just found this one today but it looks like it’s going to be intense. Personally, I have a heart for the persecuted church and I think I’m going to use this resource to dig deeper and fuel that passion.

  • Anything that is Housefires, but this one is my jam right now:

Artists I didn’t mention but loveeeeUnited PursuitElevation WorshipUpper Room, Jonathan and Melissa HelserWilliam Matthews.

Honestly, I haven’t committed myself to reading a book in a little while, but if I had to recommend two on the spot they would be:

If you have any recommendations of your own, leave them on the comments below!! I’d love to check some out.

  1. Thank you for sharing! I love all the resources you provided. I think we should start a new book and maybe bring back the book club :).

    Love ya,
